Variable Speed Drive Compressed Air System Project
Client: Goodwill Industries
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Project Overview:
At its Detroit facility, Goodwill Industries assembles wiring harnesses and packages service parts. There were a number of compressed air issues including eliminating pressure drop, reducing operating costs, improving uptime and efficiency as well as providing additional capacity for future expansions. Two Atlas Copco variable speed, oil injected rotary screw compressors were selected along with a new filtration system. The new system resulted in a 75% reduction in energy achieving an average monthly savings of $6,245. Long term savings are projected to be $54,652 for 10 years and $124,874 for 20 years. The upgrade qualified for $2,400 in utility rebates.
