Energy Efficiency Improvement Project
Client: Star Lincoln
Location: Southfield, Michigan
Project Overview:
Star Lincoln is a mid-size automobile dealership located in Southfield, MI, a Detroit suburb. Built in 1969, the showroom was recently upgraded and is very impressive. However the exterior lighting and the service area lighting and equipment were original, resulting in high utility and maintenance costs. This included energy-inefficient heating and compressed air systems, deteriorated door and window seals and slow moving garage doors.
Upgrades included LED fixtures providing the night time lighting quality necessary to accurately depict automobile colors, a new variable speed driven compressed air system reducing energy consumption 25%, 93% energy-efficient gas-fired unit heaters, new door and window seals and high-speed garage doors. These upgrades resulted in $4,650 average monthly savings in utility spend, 10-year savings of $678,400 and 20-year savings of $1,125,000. The upgrades qualified for utility rebates totaling $17,714.
